Hi there, I’m Frances!
Welcome!
I started writing here over a year ago and realized I hadn’t introduced myself properly. So here’s my informal introduction and welcome letter to you, my dear reader!
Who is Frances?
You might ask, who am I? Let me share a glimpse borrowed from a character in this witty Argentinian series titled "Nada," which means "Nothing" in Spanish. In one scene, he is asked about his profession—a food critic, a writer, or an artist. He sees himself as all those things yet also as nothing. It resonates deeply with me because it sums up the multidimensional nature of being human.
I celebrate this multidimensionality, acknowledging that we're not one-sided creatures unless we choose to be. Depending on my season of life, I indulge in various pursuits that catch my fancy.
I’m not a big fan of slapping labels on people because it boxes us in, but sometimes, I find them useful. I'm open to them if they help you get to know me better. I embody roles as a meditation and yoga practitioner, a digital advertising native, a filmmaker, a writer, and a life coach, among others.
Recently, I marveled at the stunning images captured by the Euclid Space Telescope, which revealed the vastness of the cosmos with its countless galaxies and celestial marvels. It's awe-inspiring to realize hundreds of billions of galaxies are out there.
In this vast universe, I'm but a speck of dust. Like the character from "Nada," I am nothing, too. Yet, I embrace this insignificance without diminishing my brilliance. My existence, though small on a cosmic scale, holds significance. I contribute to the consciousness of the universe, capable of making choices that resonate beyond my apparent insignificance.
I’m inspired by people doing humanly beautiful things. My work focuses on helping brilliant women over thirty-five break through their inner barriers to live with intention and trust themselves fully. So, if you’ve experienced a major transition in your life, are going through one, need inspiration for your next steps, or want to learn inner tools to reclaim joy and build resilience, this is the place for you.
Why The Chrysalis?
Inspired by a butterfly's life cycle, the chrysalis stage is where the entire transformation process happens before the caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
It may look like nothing’s happening from the outside, but this stage is where the caterpillar’s old body is broken down into imaginal cells. These cells would, later on, become its parts.
We also go through several stages in life, and the chrysalis is a figurative example of a powerful transformation happening within.
This space is where possibilities emerge. It is where I digest the lessons from the past, engage with the present, and allow transformation to happen.
Importantly, this is where I speak my truth for the moment. These truths I deemed for myself are not final; they can change tomorrow, next month, or next year, who knows. What I share here are my musings, insights, and daily inspiration that can come from anywhere.
This is my practice of awareness and staying awake and alive, where I interpret the whispers and screams of this mysterious and vast universe we belong to.
I invite you to step inside, leave your judgments aside, and if you like some of the stuff you read and listen to, take what you need and leave the rest. Form your truths and take inspiration from everything around you.
What to Expect
I write from my heart, so I consider what I send to you love letters. You will receive a letter from me once or twice a week, sometimes with an invitation to join me for something meaningful and creative. These can take the form of workshops, challenges, or events.
I enjoy writing Dear Love letters. Inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s Letters from Love, they are a balm for my sometimes aching soul.
I revived my podcast, The Imaginal Life, and the new episodes are up. Make sure to subscribe to your favorite podcast app.
What I’ve written in this space is free; it’s my way of sharing my work with you.
Join me by subscribing and sharing this with your friends and those who benefit from it. We all need to be inspired, moved, and soothed with loving and kind words from time to time. I hope through these, you’ll give yourself permission to be perfectly imperfect and have the courage to share your truths with the world.
P.S. Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to get to know you. Please tell me your name and share what gives you joy these days.
