A collection of joyful moments to return to during these challenging times.
Dear Beautiful Imaginals,
Welcome to the first edition of JOYFUL NUGGETS! I’m thrilled to start this series, where I share the experiences that bring me joy. The intention behind it is simple. Collect the joyful things so we can return to them when times are tough.
And speaking about tough, these times we live in are tumultuous. How do we give space to joy when so much suffering surrounds us? The beauty of being human is we are not one-dimensional. It’s possible to hold space for joy and pain, even when it feels complicated.
This series, for me, is where I begin. Joy is not something fleeting; it’s something I can cherish when it arrives.
I find it in the ordinary, everyday moments. Some of the places where joy can be found are stuff I’ve taken for granted— like the sunrise.
It’s only fitting that the first joyful nugget I share with you is the joy of watching the sunrise.
During the peak of the pandemic in 2020, I took on a challenge to photograph the sunrise for 31 consecutive days. Living by the ocean allowed me to witness this spectacular phenomenon each day, and it became a source of respite for me during that very tough year.
Here’s the video I made.
It served as a reminder to be grateful for each new day, representing a fresh start and the chance to begin anew. Every sunrise is unique and distinct, never the same as the previous one. Even if clouds obstruct the view, the sun will still rise.
May you always remember that no matter what happens, the sun will still rise. Let this thought give you comfort and hope in difficult times.
Sending you sprinkles of joy,
Would you like to build this joy list with me?

Beautiful, Frances! :-)
